Project Description

This resort includes an 18-story hotel tower with 234 guest-rooms, 56 suites, and 10 penthouse suites. The hotel tower vertical face is comprised of panelized curtain wall units plus limited metal panels and includes small-missile and large-missile impact glass while the podium level is enclosed with barrier-type EIFS and additional sections of curtain wall units. Post-installation testing of the curtain wall was extensive as approximately 2400 panels / 100,000 sf of curtain wall were installed. The structure consists of a deep foundation of 1,267 augercast piling 18” in diameter and 90’ long. Three large mats plus an abundance of smaller pile caps and grade beams comprise the balance of the foundation elements. The 161,000 sf Podium Level includes gaming space, administrative space, the hotel lobby, back of house, an event center, gift shop, and four café/restaurant venues plus supporting facilities and the bulk of the HVAC equipment. Site improvements consisted of underground utilities, an architectural retaining wall, concrete paved loading dock area, asphalt paved roadways, 1800 parking spaces, site lighting and landscaping. In addition, there is a 4400 sf in-ground pool and hot tub plus 3500 sf of pool deck, an outdoor bar, and Lava Links–two 18-hole miniature-golf courses with erupting volcano surrounded by lush gardens, waterfalls and footbridges. Once the resort was complete, a seven-story garage was constructed as a cast-in-place structure using conventional and post tension reinforcing. The garage contains three (3) elevators and 1,023 parking spaces. The north exterior has an EIFS wave wall and the remaining structure is exposed concrete. A Retail Shops / Connector portion was added and consists of a high end corridor connecting the garage to the existing casino lobby with an accompanying retail area.
