The U.S. Joint Maritime Operations and Training Facilities is a six-building complex on a 19 acre site completed through a design-build construction contract. It offers unique expeditionary and domestic port security training for the U.S. Coast Guard Special Missions Training Center and the Marine Corps Engineering School. This state-of-the-art campus complex was constructed in the Courthouse Bay area of Camp Lejeune to provide specialized training for non-conventional missions performed by each service in their evolving Homeland Security/Anti-terrorism roles.
The design of the SMTC Headquarters Building, Academic Instruction Facility, Boat Maintenance Facility, Armory, Covered Boat Storage and Training Pool reflects permanent, high quality facilities similar to the adjacent structures. Each of these facilities’ exterior finishes matches in both materials and quality. Emphasis was placed on durability, operational efficiency, sustainability and low maintenance of materials and systems.
