The Corry A School BEQ is an 85,082 sf, LEED Gold certified design-build project that provides space for 332 airmen in a 2+0 configuration consisting of 166 bedrooms in 83 sleeping modules with separate bathroom and shower facilities for the ‘A’ school students training at the Center of Information Dominance (CID). The new BEQ is a four story building with structural steel framing and a standing seam metal roof. Designed to resist progressive collapse, the general layout of the building and site is in direct compliance with the setback requirements of the UFC 4-010-01 DoD Minimum Anti-terrorism Standards for Buildings.
Construction materials consist of a combination of stone banding and brick veneer with horizontal stone banding at each floor. The roofing system consists of a highly reflective standing seam metal roof while the back-up wall system for the exterior wall consists of metal studs.
The facility was provided with hardened fire lane access for the fire-fighting and building maintenance vehicles; removable bollards were provided to prevent unauthorized access. In addition to a network of pedestrian sidewalks, parking for 232 privately owned vehicles were provided on the north side of the site. Other site amenities included dumpster pads, smoking and non-smoking gazebos, sand volleyball courts and bicycle storage lockers.
