St James Episcopal Church
Construction on this project involved a multi-phased program that allowed all church activities to continue throughout the construction process. To accomplish this, the adjoining property, now known as Oakridge House, was acquired and a reception center was constructed along with a complete renovation of the house.
Due to the complexity of demolition, renovation and construction taking place in an occupied and operational facility, the planning team chose a construction management at-risk approach to the project. The CM became an integral part of the planning effort working with the designers to establish budget controls to meet the parish’s available funds.
The new parish center includes a formal parish hall, guild parlor, kitchen, food service, restrooms, expanded and renovated administrative offices, and an exciting and vital youth Center. The centrally located parish hall opens to the exterior by way of large-scale southern facing porches expanding both the visual and functional use of the meeting areas.
