BlueCross BlueShield of Mississippi Office Building
This project consists of a new office building with renovations and additions to a central mechanical plant, as well as the existing main entrance. The new facility consists of a 126,218 square foot, 3-story concrete structure with post tension slabs. The building envelope is composed of architectural precast concrete panels, a massive glass curtain wall system, and a modified bitumen roof. The aluminum sunshades that cantilever off the glass curtain walls are one of several interesting architectural features. Another notable feature is the state-of-the-art security system and building intelligence system. Since security is a main concern, card access into and throughout the building was a mandatory requirement by the Owner. The most challenging aspect of this project was dealing with the myriad of building radiuses that constantly change in dimension. To further complicate layout, there are no 90 degree corners. This very challenging project was completed in 15 months, one week ahead of schedule.
